Love you too, pops. Like I told mom in another comment, this is the Substack equivalent of hugging me in front of my friends in the school pickup line. But I'll take it (this time)

You're supposed to text me this, not embarrass me in public!

Kidding, kidding, love you mom.

Congrats on your new newsletter!! I’m absolutely looking forward to reading more of your work!!!

I’m also hysterically crying, of course. What a wonderful tribute to Grandpa Frank! ❤️ He’d undoubtedly be extremely proud of his grandson, the writer for the Post!

I’m extremely proud of you, too!

Love you, Kate

This is awesome thanks for sharing it was one of my Dads dreams too Francis J Dougherty to go to Southbend to see Notre Dame!! It was a great experience and a forever one time trip but his boys Myself (Tommy), Richard and Bart took him and it completed apart of his being. It lit up his world! And yes what you stated above he was Grandpop to me and he was always in his favorite chair and reading the paper!! And if you didn’t know Diet Rite bread every night with tea!!

Merry Christmas to all!

If I keep this all on Notre Dame, I know I’ll always keep one reader at the very least

I have enjoyed your work ever since you covered high school sports and I was a coach. We have something else in common. I never knew my paternal grandfather. Tried hard to get info out of my dad while he was around but failed. I became a grandfather this year. My granddaughter will know me.
